Shard, the missing piece to your Roblox Studio.

Studio has an Explorer, a Properties panel, an Output and a command bar. Shard is the panel you can ask. It’s an AI assistant that reads the place you have open and works on it from inside Studio.

Public beta. You can try it as a guest with your own API key.

Add a daily reward chest to the lobby. 100 coins, once every 24 hours. One message in Shard Chat. This is what it did to the place.

Shard read three scripts, edited one, and created one script and three objects. Every change is a Studio undo step: Ctrl Z.

It looks before it touches.

Shard reads the scripts it needs first, including edits you haven’t saved. If you type in a script after Shard read it, the edit is refused and Shard reads it again. Your work is never overwritten by an old copy.

Every tool it uses is a row in the chat. Open a row to see what Shard sent and what came back. When scripts change, Review lists each one with the lines added and removed.

Shard doesn’t send your selection or your open scripts with every message. When you say “this part”, it checks.

The chest is in Workspace.Lobby.RewardChest. DailyReward keeps each player’s last claim in a data store and pays out once every 24 hours. A test claim ran without errors. Try it in Play: data stores need API access turned on.

Type a message...
The plugin’s own themes:
The same request, seen in Shard Chat. Recreated from the plugin; the session is an example.

Keep typing while it works.

Press Enter during a run and your message waits in a queue instead of interrupting. Press Steer and Shard reads it right before its next step, without starting over. When a run finishes, the next queued message sends by itself.

Stop is its own button. It ends the run, and any agents working for it.

Stop can’t take back a change that was already made. Check what happened, and use Undo if you need to.

Ctrl+Z still works.

Everything Shard changes goes into Studio’s own undo history. Each tool call is one step with its own name, so you can walk back exactly as far as you want.

One answer can hold several steps, so you may press it more than once.

Undo covers changes to your place. It can’t take back something test code did outside it, like a web request.

Big job? Ask for a crew.

Say “use two agents” and Shard splits the work. The lead names them, gives each a task, and keeps coordinating while they work at the same time.

Each agent owns what it edits until it’s done. Another agent that reaches for the same script is told “This path already has an owner.” and asks the owner instead.

Every agent request counts toward your message limit. A crew of three uses roughly three times as many as one Shard.

How agents work

Use two agents: one builds the shop UI, the other writes the server purchase script. Shard only starts agents when you ask for them.
  • StarterGui
  • ShopGuicreating objectsui
  • ItemListui
  • BuyButtonui
  • ReplicatedStorage
  • Remotes
  • BuyItemserver
  • ServerScriptService
  • ShopHandlerediting a scriptserver
When ui reaches for BuyItem, it gets “This path already has an owner.” and sends server a team message. The claims are freed when each agent finishes.

In the chat, one row shows who is working. Click a name to open that agent’s own conversation.

Use the AI you already have.

Shard doesn’t pick the model for you. Bring an API key from one of ten providers, connect the ChatGPT or Claude plan you already pay for, or use a model that Shard hosts.

Each chat remembers its own provider and model, and you can switch in the middle of a chat.

Models and providers

  • Your own API keyyou pay the provider, works as a guest

Every request goes through Shard’s server and counts toward the same beta limits, whichever way you connect.

What’s still missing.

Shard is in public beta. These pieces aren’t there yet, and it’s better to know before you install it.

Playtesting with Shard open

  • Pressing Play for youyou playtest, Shard pauses
  • Seeing your game while it runsit works in edit mode
  • Image attachmentstext only for now
  • Answers that appear word by wordthey arrive when the model finishes
  • An approval step before test code runsreview it in the chat
  • Replies longer than about two minutesthey fail with an error

Test code does run in its own sandbox: it can’t reach the plugin, your login or your API keys.

One set of limits during the beta.

Every plan gets the same limits, guests included. Prices aren’t set yet.
